What is the Redix Database module?

The Redix Database module allows users to interact with any ODBC-compliant databases. It also supports native APIs of target DBMS — for example, Oracle/OCI or SQL Server/OLE-DB — so applications run swiftly and efficiently.

Supported databases include:

  • ODBC (any compliant database)
  • Oracle, SQL Server, DB2
  • Sybase, Informix, InterBase
  • SQLBase, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite
Can the Redix Database module be licensed alone?

No. The module is an add-on to the Redix AnyToAny Format Converter Engine. Users must also license the engine.

What predefined maps are available with RMAP and Database modules?

With both RMAP and Database modules licensed, predefined maps are available for two database platforms:

SQL Server — 24 maps:

  • RMAP to SQL Server (12 HIPAA transaction types: 270, 271, 276, 277, 278REQ, 278RES, 820, 834, 835, 837I, 837D, 837P)
  • SQL Server to RMAP (same 12 types)

Oracle — 24 maps:

  • RMAP to Oracle (12 types)
  • Oracle to RMAP (12 types)

Total: 48 predefined database maps.

How does database access work in Redix?

Database access is done through OFD (Output File Descriptor) statements. Users can use standard SQL language, views, and stored procedures to interact with a database. The OFD supports SQL functions like sqlconnect and sqlsqlcmd for database operations.

What platforms does the Database module support?

Currently the Redix Database module supports Windows platforms only. This applies to the database connectivity features — the underlying AnyToAny Engine itself supports both Windows and Linux.

Can the Database module work with healthcare data directly?

Yes. When combined with the RMAP module, healthcare HIPAA data flows in a streamlined pipeline:

  • Receiving: HIPAA X12 → RMAP CSV → Database
  • Submitting: Database → RMAP CSV → HIPAA X12

The predefined maps handle the complete conversion chain for all 12 HIPAA transaction types.
